Cessnock Community Transport Inc. had its first meeting on the 10th February 1983 at St. Albans Community Centre in Aberdare, Cessnock. This service is an accredited operator with the Transport for NSW. The fleet ranges from 8 seater vehicles to mini buses that can assist two people with wheelchairs plus another 12 people. All vehicles are modified with hydraulic hoist platforms that lower to the ground so that you can just walk or wheel onto and then the platform raises to the vehicle floor level so that you can wheel across the platform and into the vehicle. The steps at the side are also modified to make boarding easier for people. Our drivers are specially trained to assist and provide extra care and support as required.
Cessnock Community Transport provides a vital door to door transport link for eligible people who are frail aged, disabled or 'transport disadvantaged'. It enables them to access the community for day to day activities like shopping, banking, social outings, recreational activities or health related appointments. We also assist veterans. Access to transport increases community participation thereby reducing social isolation and ultimately enhancing quality of life.
"The service is of the highest order, great in every way. Thank goodness for the service."
